Still Getting Caught Up . . .
Weird name? Maybe. My youngest helped me out with it, because I wanted something that said Vanilla Assam without just saying Vanilla Assam because a) we’ve had a tea blend called Vanilla Assam (well, technically, French Vanilla Assam), and; b) this Assam is different from my usual go-to Assam tea. It’s a single estate, 2nd flush Assam that is rich in flavor with notes of oak (hence, the name “Vanoakie” … see what she did there?) There are hints of malt & fruit. It’s a wonderfully robust, flavorful tea that deserves its very own name.
To that Assam, I added vanilla bean & some calendula petals for a little bit of color. The result is a lovely tea … this tea. Lots of vanilla flavor. Rich Assam. A great wake-me-up tea that tastes great in the afternoon too. Add a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk or your choice of dairy for a treat in latte form.
It’s vegan, gluten-free & allergen-friendly too!
ingredients: black tea
organic ingredients: vanilla beans, calendula petals & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch to ensure that all those tiny vanilla means are circulated throughout the blend. Measure out 3g of tea to 12 oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!
Serving suggestion: I like this one hot best, but it’s also nice as a cold-brew. Very smooth! It doesn’t need additions, but if you wanna add something, I highly recommend the aforementioned drizzle of sweetened condensed milk – because OMG! So good!
