Next: Decision Time! Now it’s time to decide what tea you wanna make!
- First, decide what kind of tea base you want me to use for your blend. You can choose from a Black Tea base, a Green Tea base, or a tisane base (honeybush, green rooibos or red rooibos) or a variation of these bases (for example, a black tea & honeybush base, or a green & red rooibos base.) There are different black & green tea bases available, I will discuss with you via email as to the types of black teas and/or green teas from which you can choose – as some teas are subject to availability/accessibility.
- Next, decide what flavor(s) you want. I have quite a few different flavors at my disposal, but not all flavors are available (this isn’t a every-flavor-beans kind of thing.) I will do my best to create the flavor you want using the flavors I have at my disposal.
- Next, you need to decide what kind of mix-ins you want. Again, this is subject to availability, it’s also subject to a few “rules” that I have as a blender. (No nuts, no hibiscus, all items must be vegan, gluten-free & allergen-friendly. My one “allergy” exception is coconut, because I love coconut and we are not a coconut-free company.) Other than those rules and availability/accessibility, just about anything goes.
- Finally, you’re going to need to decide on a name. Again, anything goes, so long as I won’t have the feds knocking on my door saying I can’t say that on the internet or something – and so long as I won’t receive a cease-and-desist letter from an attorney regarding the name (that is to say, no trademarked names.) Also, I prefer no formal names – example, if your name is Slartibartfast, please don’t ask me to name it Slartibartfast’s tea. Actually, I’d probably be willing to call it Slartibartfast’s tea – because I really dig that name. So scratch that. But if your name is Anne, don’t ask me to call it Anne’s tea, because that would be really weird, since my name is also Anne. It could also cause some confusion. Basically, what I’m trying to say here is that I’d rather not use YOUR name in the name of the tea. It would be weird for me to name a tea after you since I don’t know you. However, if you’d like to create a “tribute” tea (like I have done in the past for Prince) that might be OK to use the name of the person the tribute is for – so we can talk about it. Generally speaking though, I prefer not to name teas after people. I have done it in the past, but usually, it’s referring to something, rather than someone (example: Emma’s Scones – the name is about the scones she makes, rather than Emma herself.)
Now, We Wait . . .
Yeah, the waiting is the hardest part. Unfortunately, tea blending does take time. I will blend a tea as quickly as I can, but it does take a minimum of 3 weeks to create – and it will usually take longer. It will really depend upon what ingredients I happen to have on hand, what I will need to order, how long it will take to receive ingredients, and what my blending schedule and my tea menu looks like at the present time. So there are a few variables involved. After we have discussed the specifics of your order, I will let you know what kind of schedule I’m looking at and I will give you an estimation of when I think I should have the tea ready for you.
Here’s What You’ll Get . . .
- Your tea! You’ll receive 100 grams of your tea as well as a tin that holds approximately 100g of tea. Your tea will also be a tea of the week!
