Still Getting Caught Up . . .
As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m not particularly familiar with rhubarb. It’s not that I don’t like it, I actually quite like the flavor. However, it’s not a fruit I grew up with, I’ve never actually tasted it until a few years ago. Wait, is it a fruit?
So Wikipedia says it’s a vegetable.
So, allow me to amend my previous statement. Rhubarb is not a vegetable that I grew up with & as I said above, I’ve never actually tasted it until a few years ago.
But, I do enjoy it. I like the way it provides an interesting “berry-like” flavor & tartness to other fruits & in particular, it plays very nicely with strawberry. So, for this blend, I decided to go with Strawberries, Rhubarb essence & a touch of vanilla bean to smooth things out. Then I decided to go with a roasty-toasty genmaicha base. Super tasty!
organic ingredients: green tea, puffed/toasted/popped rice, strawberries, vanilla bean & natural flavors
to brew: please give the pouch a gentle yet thorough shake to ensure the vanilla beans are well incorporated. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & allow to steep for 2 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
serving suggestions: I generally prefer my genmaicha hot & this tea is no exception – but it does also make a nice cold-brew! It’s quite refreshing whichever way you decide to serve it. It doesn’t require sweetening, but I find that a teensy bit of sugar will allow some the flavors to pop!
