The 7th Tea of Christmas!
This tea is BEAUTIFUL! Not just the big, dark, curled & twisted leaves, but also the flavor! I started with a Mei Zhan Rock Oolong grown in the Fujian Province that was gently roasted. The flavor of the tea before I worked my artistry on them was lovely: notes of stone fruit & spice with a hint of honey & a smooth roasted tone.
To this tea, I added some chestnut essence (don’t worry, it’s allergen-free!) as well as some honey essence (vegan!) & a light sprinkling of calendula petals for a tiny bit of color. The result? A delicious tea that is smooth, flavorful with abundant honey notes amid a background of roasted chestnuts.
This one is unbelievably good!
ingredients: oolong tea, organic calendula petals & organic natural flavors
to brew: I brewed this in my gaiwan, using short steeps & a lot of patience. However, I also live in the real world & I know that some people don’t want to go that route, so I recommend using 3g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (180°F) & steep for 3 ½ minutes. Strain & allow 5 minutes to cool. Enjoy!
serving suggestion: I generally prefer my teas hot & especially my Oolong teas. However, I suspect this one would be really nice cold-brewed as well. It’s just – absolutely beautiful on the palate however you choose to serve it. It’s great unsweetened as the honey notes make this pleasantly sweet on its own, however, if you prefer a sweeter tea, go ahead. Just be sure to taste it before sweetening to make sure you don’t overdo it!
