Still Getting Caught Up . . .
I haven’t worked with passion fruit for a really, really long time. I think part of the issue is that in the past, when I worked with the actual dried passion fruit, it was really sticky & it ended up sticking to the tea & it would result in clumps of tea & fruit, not necessarily the most attractive look for the tea. Oh, it still tasted amazing, of course, but it wasn’t a lot of fun to work with, so I found it a bit frustrating.
However, I came across some freeze-dried passion fruit that wasn’t sticky like the air-dried passion fruit, so I decided to create a tropical delight!
It starts with a beautiful tippy Yunnan & Vietnamese black tea. Then I added lots of coconut & mango, plus – of course – the aforementioned freeze-dried passion fruit. The liquid brews to a lovely coppery color. The flavor is delightful: rich black tea, creamy coconut, sweet mango & tart passion fruit. Distinctly tropical in flavor & scent, it’s absolutely dreamy to sip!
It’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!
organic ingredients: black teas, coconut, freeze-dried mangos, freeze-dried passion fruit & natural flavors
to brew: use 3g of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 ½ minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!
serving suggestion: I first tested this hot & it was fantastic! I tried it as a cold-brew as well & it makes a stunning iced drink too! I like this one with just a teensy bit of sugar, because it adds some definition to the overall flavor of the cup. It’s tasty without the sweetener, but I do enjoy the definition that the sweetening provides.
