The 6th Tea of Christmas!
The original version of this tea was made from a very specific Fujian black tea that I was not able to acquire for this tea (not to mention that the tea was a bit bulkier & I don’t think it would have fit in the holiday box packaging with the other teas), so instead, I went with the Chinese black gunpowder as a base, which has a similar dark chocolate note to it & I thought it would work really nicely with the original concept of this blend. So, yeah, it’s a v.2, but it’s very similar to what I remember of the original blend.
This blend starts with the aforementioned Chinese black gunpowder tea, to which I added peppermint leaves, marshmallow root, vanilla beans, cacao shells & nibs, as well as a bit of my blending magic to create something that tastes a lot like . . . well, just like the name of the tea describes: a cup of hot chocolate with a peppermint marshmallow melting in it. It’s deliciously chocolate-y with pleasantly crisp notes of peppermint & a hint of creamy, melting marshmallow.
A delicious holiday treat that will be good any time you’re in the mood for something yummy!
organic ingredients: black tea, peppermint leaves, marshmallow root, cacao nibs & shells, vanilla beans & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch to ensure all ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3g of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & steep for 3 ½ minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!
serving suggestion: I feel like I’ve said this a lot lately, but I prefer this one hot. I tend to prefer to take most of my teas hot. But this one has a lovely, cozy, comforting flavor to it that just tastes better as a hot drink. (Although, if you prefer your tea iced, I’m sure this will do nicely!) It doesn’t need sweetening to enjoy it, but a teensy bit of sugar will enhance the overall cup, allowing the chocolate & marshmallow notes to pop.
