The 2nd Tea of Christmas!
I was inspired to create this blend after seeing an announcement from a very popular coffee shop (yes, it’s probably the one you’re thinking of) earlier this year. They were promoting a Cherry Chai Latte & I was VERY interested. However, I am not a patron of that particular business because – reasons.
So, I decided that I should craft my own Cherry Chai blend.
I started with a blend of CTC Assam teas & added the usual spices: cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom, black pepper & my personal favorite – nutmeg. Then I added some anise because I thought that might go well with the cherry notes. Then I added lots of tart black cherries & vanilla beans.
I don’t know how this blend compares to the drink that inspired it, but I do know that this is really tasty! Pleasantly warm & spicy without being too much. The vanilla is soft & smooth. The cherry is bright, tart & deliciously fruity. It’s organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural too!
organic ingredients: black teas, cherries, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg, anise, vanilla beans & natural flavors
to brew: shake pouch well to ensure that the ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3 ½ grams of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water. Steep for 4 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before sipping! Enjoy!
serving suggestion: I tend to prefer chai blends served hot & this one is no exception. There’s just something comforting about a cozy, hot drink & in my opinion, no tea blend is more comforting & cozy than a chai! I’m sure that it would be delicious iced too (I do enjoy an iced chai on occasion, too!)
The first time I taste tested this blend, I tried it straight with no additions. After that, I tried it with a little bit of sugar, I tried it as a latte & I tried it with a drizzle of honey too! I personally think that it’s best with a little drizzle of honey, it accentuates the spices perfectly. It’s great without the additions too & It makes an amazing latte! So whatever you’re in the mood for, I think this tea is ready to fit with that mood.
