Countdown to Catching Up – Tea 3 (Counting Down from 10 to 1!)
This turned out even better than I imagined! When I crafted the recipe for this blend, I was just browsing the web, looking for interesting “winter” recipes that included cherry, because I had some cherries in my inventory & I didn’t end up using them for another recipe that I didn’t end up blending – one I’ll save for another day.
Anyway, I happened to come across a recipe for a “winter cherry fizz” cocktail, that included cherry & pineapple. I was already intrigued! It sounded amazing to me. But I gave the recipe a bit of a twist, making both pineapple & cherry the co-stars of the blend, so I decided to change the recipe. It’s a little less like a cocktail and a bit more like a soft drink of sorts – think our Crisp Cranberry Soda but with pineapple & cherries instead of the cranberry. That’s what this tastes like to me & to be honest, it’s SO GOOD!
It’s also vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly, organic & naturally caffeine-free!
organic ingredients: red rooibos, green rooibos, freeze-dried pineapple, freeze-dried cherries & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch to make sure the ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3 1/2g of tisane to 12oz of very hot water (190°F) & steep for 10 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for about 5 minutes before you start sipping.
serving suggestion: this makes a really nice cold-brewed iced tea – but it’s also quite tasty as a hot drink. As a cold drink, it takes on more of a “soda” type of drink, while as a hot drink, it’s more like a refreshing, fruity warm “cocktail” without the booze! Either way, it’s quite nice. It doesn’t require sweetening, but I do find that with a teensy bit of sugar (less than ½ a teaspoon per 12oz serving), the “soda” elements of this drink pop a bit more.
