Tea of the Week for September 9, 2024!
I love teas with fig & to be honest, I don’t think I make nearly enough of them! The last fig tea that I crafted (if my recollection is correct) was in last year’s 12 Teas of Christmas (that was Figgy Pudding Honeybush). That tea was delicious & I think it’s time for another fig tea!
This time, I utilized naturally caffeine-free, organic rooibos as a base. I blended it with lots of dried fig, a touch of cinnamon & a bit of essence. The result is a gently sweet, warm, autumnal cuppa that tastes like figs & hazelnuts that have been candied with a caramel-y glaze. (Don’t worry, this tisane is nut-free!)
This yummy tea is nut-free, naturally caffeine-free, organic, gluten-free, vegan & allergen-friendly!
organic ingredients: rooibos, figs, cinnamon, calendula petals & natural flavors
to brew: before you open the pouch, be sure to give it a gentle shake to ensure that the ingredients are well-incorporated. Use 3 ½ grams of tea to 12oz of very hot water (195°F) & steep for 10 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. Enjoy!
serving suggestion: I tend to prefer my autumnal teas like this one served hot – this is a very cozy & comforting tea! It would be tasty as a cold drink as well, but I prefer it served hot. It doesn’t require any sweetening, but a teensy bit of sugar will enhance the overall candied flavor of the cup.
This also makes a stunning latte. I recommend steeping it strong (use a little extra leaf) so that the flavors do not dilute with the addition of the dairy. Tasty!
