Prince Tribute Teas
I - like so many - was devastated by the news of Prince's passing. I don't think any other celebrity's death has affected me so profoundly as Prince. Despite never having met the man, I felt this need to create something that was a tribute to him and his art.
Looking back to my awkward teen-age years - the years I lived as an outcast, feeling misunderstood and feeling as though nobody or nothing really accepted me - One thing that gave me peace or made me feel good to be who I was Prince's music. It wasn't so much the lyrics - the lyrics are beautiful (and some rather raunchy) - but it wasn't so much the lyrics that moved me as the music itself that spoke to me. I felt as though I could feel color and shape in his music and it appealed tremendously to the repressed artist within. His music was my best friend in my teen years - it gave my turmoil an emotional release and validation.
With the announcement of his death, I feel a part of me also died and to be honest, I can't even type his name without feeling the tears start to mist my eyes. I still mourn this amazing musical icon - his art touched me profoundly.
I decided that I needed to create some tribute teas to celebrate his life and his art and what he did for me. The firstfirst of several teas that I have planned as Prince Tribute Teas will be released on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 - his 58th birthday.
When Doves Cry - The first Prince Tribute Tea. This is a white tea (a fluffy Bai Mu Dan) blended with dried apricots, vanilla bean and natural flavors. I then added crystallized (sugared) violet petals to create "an ocean of violets in bloom."
