Tea of the Week for October 23, 2017: Banana Zomba Green Tea!
Posted by on
Tea Description: I'm not big on bananas. I like them OK and I eat them every now and then, but they aren't my favorite fruit. However, when it comes to fruit flavored teas, well that's a totally different thing altogether. I absolutely LOVE banana flavored tea.
So I decided to go totally BANANAS with this blend and make it all about the banana. I started with a single garden green tea from the Satemwa estate in Malawi - their Zomba steamed green tea - and I added bananas. Lots and lots of bananas. And then I added more bananas. And that's it.
This Zomba steamed green tea is bananas!
ingredients: green tea, organic bananas & organic natural flavor
I'm totally digging this tea - it's so very banana, but not so banana that I can't taste the tea. There's a nice balance between sweet green tea notes - vegetal, smooth - and the flavor of banana.
I really don't have much more to say about it except that this is bananas!
to brew: the Zomba steamed green tea is difficult to measure using the perfect tea spoon so I don't recommend it (the leaves are too big). Instead, use either a bamboo scoop or a teaspoon from the cutlery drawer (the kind you'd stir your tea with) and measure out a scoop or a heaping spoon of the tea to 12 ounces of hot water (heated to 180°F) and let steep for 2 minutes. Strain and let cool for about 5 minutes. Enjoy!
