Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
Today is the last day of our 12 Teas of Christmas countdown - and the tea for today is a very special, very limited edition tea. I will only be offering this additional quantities of this tea to those who ordered the box!
A Winter Treat!
Tea Description: I started out with a very special base - a charcoal baked TieGuanYin Oolong! Then I added bananas, a touch of cinnamon, some marshmallow root and essence of butter rum and cream! And seriously - I know I say this often when describing my teas but seriously! - this is totally YUM!
I'm not sure exactly where I got the inspiration behind this flavor - but I'm glad that the inspiration struck when it did because this tea is really good. It may just be one of my newest favorite flavors. The banana and butter rum work together phenomenally. The cinnamon is warm but not overwhelming. The creaminess of the TieGuanYin plays to the cream notes and the gentle smokiness of the tea along with the marshmallow root give a faint toasted marshmallow-y type of flavor that is SO GOOD that it becomes difficult to come up with words to describe it - it makes me just want to say Mmmmmmmm!!!
organic ingredients: bananas, cinnamon, marshmallow root & natural flavors
ingredients: charcoal baked tieguanyin oolong tea
This is a tea for which I've been eagerly awaiting the taste test - and my patience has been rewarded beautifully! This is really, really good! It was absolutely love at first sip and I find myself falling more and more in love with it with each and every sip!
The cinnamon is a flavor that starts out softly but continues to develop. But even now, as I'm nearly finished with my first cup, I don't find the cinnamon to be overwhelming at all. It's a gentle warmth that lends itself well to the butter rum and banana flavors.
This tea reminds me a lot of a bananas foster dessert - and yes, we do have a bananas foster black tea in our history - but I like these flavors so much better with the charcoal baked oolong base. The natural creaminess of the oolong works exceptionally well here and the notes of charcoal along with the marshmallow offer a little bit of toasted marshmallow flavor in the background that elevates the cup to another level beyond the bananas foster black tea (which was also really good, of course, but this is better!)
If you've purchased the box and you want to order another pouch of this tea, you'll need to email me. This tea is only available to those who purchased the 12 Teas of Christmas box!
To brew: Give the pouch a gentle shake to redistribute the ingredients (the cinnamon and the marshmallow root tends to shift just a little bit) and measure out a level teaspoon of tea to 12 ounces of hot water (heated to 180°F) and let steep between 2 - 4 minutes. I steeped my first infusion for 3 minutes. Remember, this is an Oolong so you can resteep it a couple of times! The added flavors will soften somewhat with subsequent infusions but the Oolong is a very high quality Oolong and worthy of those additional infusions!
